Sensing, Feeling, Resting

I am trying to take the end of this year slowly, stepping lightly, finding some stillness and silence among the rushing and frivolity.

How are you doing?

Trying to finish everything before Christmas?
Feeling Overwhelmed?
Take a PAUSE and reconsider.
Ask yourself: “What happens if things go unfinished?”
How would it be if I stayed with what is in this moment and enjoyed all this season has to offer; friends, family, glitter and holidays just around the corner?

Check in with your senses, bring yourself to THIS moment, out of the planning mind. Be present, enjoy of all this season has to offer.

Take time to rest, share, laugh and play.
Wishing you, your family and friends a happy festive season.

Taste - what I am eating

Light, bright canapes for the festivities.

For colourful salads try Buckwheat with Pomegranate and a mix of chopped herbs or with Avocado, Mango and Lime Juice as your base add some spinach, mint, walnuts or prawns.

Smell - what I am smelling

The aromas of cake baking, candles burning and flowers.

Touch - what I am feeling

Pooh Bear

“A hug is always the right size.”

Sight - what I am reading

What do the holidays look like for me? Connection.

It is the pleasure of conversation at the table rather than food that was the philosophy of Epicurus. I read this in “Reclaiming Epicurus” by Luke Slattery. It seems so appropriate at this time of year, as we gather. Time to consider where our focus is drawn.

Keep the fun and clip the stress.

Sound - what I am listening to

I am singing Christmas Carols and Dancing.
Singing brings me pleasure especially when in community. It also brings a sense of calm and peace. Like breath work, pranayama, and chanting, the longer exhale activates the parasympathetic nervous system offering a sense of relaxation.

I will be bopping along to ‘Jerusalema’. It is contagious and brings back wonderful memories of Christmas in Africa.

What is your favourite dance tune?
