Think Less, Feel More

I am ‘wintering’; a word I coined from Katherine May, “Wintering: How I Learned to Flourish When Life Became Frozen”

I stopped and felt; I listened to my body.
It was time to slow down, to go inward. This I am doing, at present with small things like going to bed a little earlier, rising later some mornings and eating warm foods, even warm salads. It feels good giving myself the quiet time my body craves, but time our world does not support.

Dark Mofo supports and celebrates this dark month. The wide array of events; music, arts, performances and food can be selected with a gentle pace, if this is what you are searching for.
If you are based in or around Hobart I hope you too have explored and enjoyed this festival.

Sound - what I am listening to?

Max Richter @ Dark MOFO

It was music that opened my heart.
Here is a link to Voices that was played @ the concert.
I often play Sleep in Yoga Nidra classes. (The links are from Spotify)

Sight - what am I seeing?

Consider this, from poet and teacher June Jordan on perspective:

"Our earth is round, and, among other things, that means that you and I can hold completely different points of view and both be right. The difference of our positions will show stars in your window I cannot even imagine. Your sky may burn with light, while mine, at the same moment, spreads beautiful to darkness. Still we must choose how we separately corner the circling universe of our experience. Once chosen, our cornering will determine the message of any star and darkness we encounter."

Taste - what I am eating?

Numerous and changeable combinations of steamed vegetables with a dressing for a tasty difference.

Touch - what am I feeling?

With frosty mornings upon us I am staying warm with many soft, layers
- cardigan, scarf, gloves and even socks - of possum. The bright colours add to the feeling of warmth and sense of brightness.

Smell - what I am smelling?

Bush Botanicals

I am making candles and exploring combinations of botanical fragrances; fragrances that bring the bush indoors and with this a sense of calm.
